Wood As A Building Material

Wood as building material derived from trees that have a parts in the body,


Part of a timber and its function:

Skin

Located on the outer portion of the tree trunk. Wood skin consists of
two parts:
Outer, dead skin, has a thickness that varies according to age of
trees. dry and solid-colored.
Inner skin is alive and the thin skin actually carries sap. it also
serves as a protection of the deepest parts against external damage
such as climate, insects, pests and fire.

Cambium

Is a network of thin layers and nodes such that exists between lenders
leather and wood, round timber, to the outside to form new skin
replaces old skin has been damaged, forming the new wood. With the
Cambium, a tree grew.

Wood pig

Wooden parts composed of young cells are still alive, is located next
to the cambium which serves as a distributor of fluid and dump food
